No parent with a child of suitable ability who would benefit from an education at Birkenhead School should be dissuaded from applying for a place on grounds of costs.
Bursaries are awarded to help students take up or retain a place at the School where their parents or guardian cannot pay full fees. All Bursaries are means-tested and may cover up to 100% of the full fee. It is unusual for very young children to be awarded Bursaries as assessment of their potential has to be established before a bursary can be considered.
In addition to bursaries, the School offers:
- Academic and Music Scholarships for entry into Year 7 in recognition of outstanding potential
- Honorary Academic Sixth Form Scholarships for outstanding GCSE results
- Honorary Music Sixth Form Scholarships for existing students who have not only made an exceptional contribution to both choral and instrumental music over many years, and at a high level, but who have constantly modelled the commitment and values that make them role models for the younger years.
- Access Scholarships for those entering the Sixth Form with outstanding GCSE results from other schools who would otherwise not be able to access a Birkenhead School education
The award of a Scholarship does not preclude the award of a Bursary.
More information, including how to apply for scholarships and bursaries, is available from Julie Hopper, PA to the Headmaster.
