Applications are now open for this year's 'Be Inspired' programme aimed at Year 5 pupils in local state primary schools.

Following the success of last year's launch, Birkenhead School has opened applications for its 'Be Inspired' course aimed at Year 5 pupils in local state primary schools.

'Be Inspired' is a Birkenhead School Community Programme with a focus on social mobility through education. Academically inquisitive children from Year 5 are invited to attend the programme on four Saturdays during May and June.

The programme launched last year, at a time when preparing young children could not be more critical given the recent lockdowns, and is designed to help pupils prepare for secondary school and the 11+.

Teachers and parents are invited to nominate children who will be invited to attend all four weekly sessions, during which they will get to try new subjects and activities, as well as building on the national curriculum supplementing the work done in primary schools. Lessons will be led by teachers from Birkenhead School, supported by Sixth Form pupils, who will act as mentors for the younger children – academically, as well as offering advice on aspiration, university and confidence.

Birkenhead School is a leading independent school located in Oxton Wirral and ‘Be Inspired’ is the latest in a number of charity and community initiatives over recent years.

Applications are invited from local schools and parents and further information can be found below or by contacting the School office, jlh@birkenheadschool.co.uk. Transport, breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Deadline for Applications: Tuesday 22nd February

Children should not have attended, or applied for, a place at an independent school.
