On Friday 24th November, Mr Mike Barcroft visited the Sixth Form as part of our weekly Nicholls Lecture Series.
By Daisy M, Sixth Form Student
Mike is the innovation strategist for Cream UK, which is a huge marketing company, managing brands such as Seiko, Tinder and Unilever. Mike also co-owns the brand Mone, a label which has been worn by a variety of celebrities such as Mason Mount, Tom Holland, Maya Jama and Niall Horan. Their brand has recently been stocked in Bloomingdale’s, New York, and they’re currently in discussion with Selfridges to have their next line sold there.
The brand, which was created after Mike underwent skull surgery, following a serious accident, focuses on the Monegasque fashion with their best seller being their Grand Prix shirt. Mike and his friend got the idea from after spending plenty of summers in the south of France and experiencing the lifestyle of the Monegasque people.
Throughout the lecture, Mike taught us that we have so much time to become what we want that we should not be afraid to take risks or start again if things don't work out in the first instance. Mike is a firm believer in the idea that 'everything happens for a reason'.
I will close by thanking Mike for giving up his time to speak to us. The lecture was a great success and enjoyed by everyone in the Sixth Form.
