As one School, we can help support children as they move into Seniors and ensure that the transition is as seamless as possible.
This provides for a coherent, all-through education, building on the foundations laid in Prep and maintaining not only the quality, but also the energy and excitement of intellectual discovery.
Transition to Overdale
Overdale is a close-knit community and setting for Year 7 and 8 pupils and offers a friendly base following the move from Prep.
The Head of Overdale works closely with Prep form teachers, so that each child is fully supported as they move from Prep to Seniors and any necessary support is put in place.
In the Summer Term, pupils moving up to Seniors spend a day in Seniors and complete a range of fun activities, spending time with Seniors staff, who will be their teachers the following year.
Curriculum Links
As they move through the Prep, Prep pupils spend time both within Seniors and alongside Seniors staff and students. A range of transition activities are offered for different subjects that span Years 5 to 8 and this gives plenty of opportunities for curriculum links to be built and strong foundations for Seniors to be set.
Lessons such as Mandarin, Latin, Design Technology and Games & PE lessons start to be taught by staff from Seniors.
Co-Curricular Links
Through co-curricular activities such as Music and Sport, pupils have an opportunity to build relationships across year groups that span Prep and Seniors. The relationships built, and friendships made, all help support the move to Seniors.
