To enhance the learning inside the classroom, sixth form students are offered a range of trips and visits throughout the year to support and enhance the learning undertaken in the classroom; as well as truly inspire and develop our students into responsible young adults.
Below are some examples of where Sixth Form students have had the opportunity to visit:
Florida
Sixth Form students formed part of a group from Birkenhead School which went on an educational visit to Florida. There was a 'Business Masters' group and a 'Forensics' group. The trip included visits to NASA's Kennedy Space Centre, 'Wonderworks' and Universal Studios. There was also a chance to meet TV Meteorologist Amy Sweezey.
Nepal
A group of sixth form students had the opportunity to travel to Nepal in conjunction with the charity, So the Child May Learn. The group were able to see how their fundraising helped contribute towards the building of six new classrooms at a Nepalese school.
Sports Tours
Sixth Form students take part in the annual Sports Tours, where they visit a country and play fixtures against local schools and groups within the area.
Recent destinations have included:
- Namibia & South Africa – Rugby Tour (July 2019)
South Africa - Netball and Hockey Tour (taking place July 2018)
- Barbados – Cricket Tour (July 2017)
- South Africa – Rugby Tour (July 2016)
Washington & New York
A group of sixth form students spent one week exploring Washington and New York where they visited a range of cultural sights and attractions.
CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research
Students travelled to Geneva to visit CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research in April 2018.
