Why Choose Birkenhead School

Academic Excellence
Our A Level results consistently place Birkenhead School among the leading schools in the North West, reflecting our commitment to academic rigour and personalised support.

Outstanding Co-Curricular Programme
Students enjoy an exceptional co-curricular offering that includes Music, Drama, Sport, a wide variety of clubs and societies, and enriching trips both in the UK and overseas. Recent trips have seen students visit Canada, South Africa, Texas and Madrid.

Leadership & Mentoring Opportunities
We believe that developing leadership skills is essential for success beyond school. Sixth Form students can take on a variety of roles — from Heads of School and Deputies to Senior Prefects — that build confidence, responsibility, and resilience.

Birkenhead Futures Programme
Our bespoke Birkenhead Futures programme helps students prepare for life after school, focusing on university guidance, career planning, work experience, and the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Beyond the Curriculum
A broad range of opportunities allow students to grow as individuals, including the Nicholls Lecture Series and BTC (Birkenhead Talks & Conversations) sessions that explore contemporary issues, personal development, and real-world insights.

Nicholls Lecture Series
This prestigious programme invites inspirational figures from a range of fields to share their experiences and insights with Sixth Form students, encouraging them to think critically and ambitiously about their own futures.

Old Birkonian Society
On leaving Birkenhead School, students join the Old Birkonian Society — a lifelong community offering support, friendship, mentoring, and valuable networking opportunities around the world.
